Genital herpes- what is this?

This is a very infectious venereal disease or if you like sexually transmitted infection caused by a virus known as the herpes simplex virus (HSV).

This virus will only get to you after you have had intimacy with an infected person. However, it is not that easy to expel it out of your body after you have been infected with the Herpes Simplex Virus.

Mode of transmission

You may get genital herpes if you have intercourse with a tainted person. You can also get genital herpes if you kiss someone who has cold sores that are exposed and are surging pus, which are as a result of a particular HSV virus.

Herpes is spread through skin to skin contact. It can be spread from one part of the body to a different, such as from the genitals to the fingers, eyes or other parts of the body. Herpes can also be spread from a mother to her baby when she delivers.

What happens after infection?
Immeasurable people who are infected with HSV do not show any symptoms right away. But when symptoms do occur or the outbreak, genital herpes causes excruciating blisters on the thighs, genitals, or rectum that break open and turn into sores.

Symptoms of genital herpes to be expected

Painful sores in the genital area.
Just like we are different, the genital herpes sores will occur at different intervals and severity on our genitals. Some people may even live with the virus for long without getting sores, and when they get them, they soon disappear on their own.

To some though, one may wonder if their skin is juicy or what! The sores will come as often as they disappear, will affect larger parts and will cause intolerable anguish.

Aching lymph nodes in the groin area

As if painful sores are not enough torment, this individual will also suffer from swollen and aching lymph nodes.

This might have a very negative impact on this person because he might also have walking problems if he or she does not see the doctor right away.

Vaginal discharge in women
Any organism whether living harmlessly in or outside her body and then infuriated to multiply will change the natural discharge of her vagina.

The herpes simplex virus will change this critical part of woman reproductive life as well.

Painful urination and itching
Generally almost all genital infections have this symptom especially with the yeast infection. A person with genital herpes virus can expect this too.

Wear loose clothes, because if you do not, you might stimulate the rate of infection even if you are strong.

Keep the genital area clean and dry also because the prescribed drugs may not make any noticeable difference on the sores and the blisters if you are dirty.

Try not to touch the sores and if you do touch them, wash your hands with warm soap and water right away.

Avoid having sex during an outbreak because this by itself is not a cause of genital herpes but it does accelerate the rate of infection.

You will also infect someone else who you have not told about this and do not deserve to get sick. If you do not follow the doctor’s instructions, or see him for treatment, the disease might get worse.

Female Genital Herpes
Though there has been proven vaccine that is able to get rid of the HSV virus on females alone, she can not be sure of this until the doctor confirms so.

This woman will make things difficult for her growing baby in the womb during birth because the virus might also pass to the baby and could damage its brain.

So a woman does not have a choice that is better than avoiding unnecessary affairs with infected men. She poses too much danger to her own self and the baby that do not deserve to be hurt.

Male genital herpes
The sores will as well appear tiny and in clusters, with a red base. Things will only get worse as the disease progresses because a time will come when even emptying the bladder will hurt.

He will also keep on scratching the affected parts because male genital herpes portray such a sign. Muscle aches, back pain, penis discharge and headaches are more symptoms he should expect.

Is it not hard for this brother to wear clothes and go to work or other business? The problems so far not to mention the sore lymph nodes might even make walking a disaster.

Treatment
Over the counter cures
These include such topical ointments as Imiquimod, Fluorouracil, and Polyphenon. Genital warts cream treatments can also include such things called Interferons.

These are antiviral drugs which can either be injected directly into the genital warts, or used as a genital warts cream.

Natural herbs or home remedies

These are like mushrooms, apple juice, pineapple, green tea, garlic, vinegar and onions. Some other people who hate chemicals that are contained in many drugs have an option of treating themselves naturally, but only after seeing the doctor.

Surgery
Cryotherapy is another genital warts medicine which many people employ and involves using either liquid nitrogen of carbon dioxide on the affected area. Loop electrosurgical excision procedure is the next surgical procedure that also commonly serves as genital wart medicine.

Prescription medicines
Many people would prefer what comes directly from the hospital and doctors hands because usually this is the last hope of healing for all. This is why these drugs are available and taken under the intervention of the doctor.
